22 December 2009
I supported the unveiling of a plaque at the UKBA to the departed Tamil Croydonian Mary Apragas who worked with UKBA and South London Citizens to secure more appropriate welcome support and facilities for migrants visiting Lunar House than an exposed queue outside.
The plaque reads “ Mary Apargas, 2004, Voice of Courage.”
There was a welcome of Christmas carols for visitors to Lunar House in a season of goodwill for all men.
The story of Jesus’s birth is after all one of travel.
Many volunteers from South London Citizens who work to support visitors were themselves applicants at Lunar House years ago.
