Andrew Pelling was up and about early on Saturday to attend a traditional mayday celebration held by the North Wood Morris dancers outside the almshouses at 6 am. Andrew says:
“It was great fun to come and watch this event today, unfortunately Croydon Council is poor at the promotion of the town. A large audience for the Morris dancers would be good for business as coffee houses and cafes could be open to serve a large number of visitors. Croydon also fails to celebrate its Englishness.”
We would like to encourage the council to promote this event. If we can help to publicise this great event more widely we could help turn next years celebrations in to an event for the whole of Croydon.
